How we measure coverage

The original fleet returned 67 codes for 72 cars (93.1%). Excluding the four unsupported MGs gives 67 of 68 (98.5%) across 17 makes. This includes saved and assisted results, and does not measure new automated lookups across every make shown here.

In a separate, larger live scan, 284 of 359 checked cars returned a code (79.1%). Some lookups were incomplete or restricted when that scan stopped. No physical paint labels were verified.

Coverage means a vehicle-associated code was returned. It does not prove paint accuracy. Always check the vehicle’s paint label before ordering; results vary by model, year and registration.

Brand marks identify vehicle makes. Regpaint is independent and is not endorsed by these manufacturers.

Is a paint code the same as a colour name?

No. A paint code identifies a finish. Names such as “Hot Rod Red” can vary between markets, so use the code when ordering and check it against the vehicle label.

Will every registration return a code?

No. Availability varies by vehicle. If a lookup can’t establish a code, we show that clearly. Conflicting or multiple codes need checking on the car.

Do I need a subscription for one car?

No. An individual lookup is 95p. The workshop plan is for repeat use, with 500 searches each month.

What a lookup uses

We process the registration you enter, associated vehicle details and the technical information needed to deliver and protect the service. We don’t ask you to enter a registered keeper’s name or address.

Sign-in and service records

A secure sign-in cookie keeps an authorised session open. Lookup results can be saved to make repeat searches faster. Technical logs help identify errors and misuse.

Payments and your rights

Payment processing has not been connected in this preview. The final notice will identify the operating business, payment processor, lawful bases, retention periods and the contact for data-protection requests.

The service

Regpaint looks up available vehicle paint-code information from a UK registration. Coverage varies, and a code or colour name cannot be guaranteed for every vehicle.

Check before painting

Confirm the code against the vehicle’s paint label. Information about an original finish does not establish the current finish of a repainted vehicle or compensate for fading.

Single lookups: 95p. Workshop plan: £32 monthly or £299 annually, with 500 searches per month and 50p per additional search. API-only calls: 45p–30p depending on volume. A 7-day free trial is offered.
